Testimonial #2 - Creme Eye Shadows

For my next tester I asked my friend Lauren of Elle Elyse Handbags & Accessories to give BeautiControl's Creme Eye Shadows a try. She posted her experience on her blog last month, so I'm a little slow passing this along to the rest of you.

As a admitted beauty product junkie, I am willing to give any product a try. Kate ,a Beauti Control consultant in my Northland Woman’s Network, asked us to try out some new product. I chose the cream eye shadows as I have never used them before and my sister swears by them, I thought I should give it a go. I applied the Beauti Control Cream Eye Shadow Rich Gold. Keep reading to see what I thought about it.

Yes, this is me with out eye make up and mascara (YIKES!!) Here we go……
I must admit, the product is packaged beautifully and looks & feels amazing but I have know idea how to apply this cream. I am a artist when it comes to a brush and mineral make up. So this is a HUGE challenge for me. After washing my eyes off 4 times & 1 YouTube tutorial this is what I was able to come up with.

At first application, it goes on smooth but then it drys flaky and foily. I may have applied too much to my eyelid. (as I said, I have no clue how to use this) As the day went on the cream flaked off into my eye so, in the parking lot of Sams Club ( I was running errands) I rubbed off the chunky off my eyes with a Kleenex and it felt a whole lot better.
Overall, I would like to try it out again to see if practice makes perfect. I can totally see why busy mom’s would like a cream shadow because it is quick and easy to apply. I’m not sure it’s for me but I would recommended it to avid cream eye shadow wearer to try.

Testimonial #1 - Pedicure Set

I have been asking several friends and clients to try out products for me in exchange for testimonials (whether they be good, bad or indifferent). Some people are blessed with beautiful soft feet – I am not one of them!  I have always struggled with an excessive amount of dead and cracked skin on my heals and have tried many products over the years, but nothing really parallels to BeautiControl’s Pedicure Spa line.  I have tried many of Avon’s pedicure products and they were ok but really don’t compare!  I tried the products twice by giving myself a quick pedicure and then a more relaxing, longer pedicure including filing.  The first time I quickly sprayed the foot spray on after I got out of the shower and then sat on the end of the tub and scrubbed my feet and rinsed.  I put the detoxifying foot crème on and then socks.  The next day when I got out of the shower, my feet were still soft!  A few days later I filed the dead skin on my feet and let them soak in my foot tub.  I used the scrub and then finished with a nice foot/ankle/calf massage using the cooling foot salve ß This is my new fav!!  I really liked the cooling sensation on my ankles and calf’s!  These products are wonderful!  I would definitely recommend this line to a friend!

Nicholas loved the bc bath products! It smells great & puts him right at ease. This is going to be on my favorite things list for new moms.

Let's talk BLACKHEADS!

Ever looked at your face in the mirror and wondered what those dark spots are? Those are blackheads. So what can you do to get rid of them?

First we have to understand what they are. Blackheads are the effect that happens when clogged pores are oxidized. They are a form of acne, but unlike "granny" pimples aka red bumps and whiteheads they break through the surface of the skin and are exposed to the air and environment. Your body naturally secretes oil to keep your skin moisturized. Sometimes due to stress, hormones, etc. your skin makes excess that clogs the pore. Once that pore is clogged and opens it hits the air making the black color when oxidized.

Now that we know what they are, how can we reverse the process? Besides washing your face twice a day you should be scrubbing (in some form) 3-4 times a week. You can do this with a regular scrub, mud mask and microderm abrasion. Just not all at once! What the scrub does is take the loose, clogged, top layers of your skin off. Leaving the newer, cleaner skin to come to the surface. Doing this on a regular basis helps to minimize your pores and keep them from getting less clogged.

Skincare Basics

 

 To help celebrate the extended offer of our spa case for $79, I thought we could talk about skincare basics.

An honest question to my readers - What do you use to take care of your face? 

For those of you who do the least amount of work on yourself, you not only are not taking care of YOU, but you are aging your skin faster. Did you know that ever day you do NOT wash your face, you are aging it 11 days? Think back to all those lazy weekends or late night outings where you were just too tired to take care of your skin. You left all that gunk on your face to sink into all your skin layers. I'm not just talking makeup but daily oil build up, pollutants in the air (the industry calls them free radicals) and anything you had on your hands then touched your face with. Gives you the willies doesn't it?! It did me when I found this out. 

Most women don't know how to take care of their skin. I'll admit I was one of those. One of the many benefits I have gotten from BeautiControl has been ever increasing knowledge of how to take care of myself and teach others to do the same. How many of you are using the same soap on your face that washes your body (aka your feet and butt)? Don't you think you should have someone more specific/special for the part of you that shows YOU to the world?

Today I'm not going to get to deep on the technical side of skincare, like the layers of the skin and how it can be damaged. We are just going to focus on starting with the basics to make your face healthy again.

1. Cleaner - you have got to remove all that GUNK on your face twice a day. Whether you wear makeup or not! Don't you wash your hands multiple times a day? Then why wouldn't you wash the other part of you that is constantly exposed to the elements of our environment?

2. Scrub - This takes off the top, loose layers of your skin so that the newer, more fresh cells you have are shown to the world. It also helps to put a healthy glow back into your skin. You can do this with a regular scrub, a mask, chemical peel or microderm abrasion. I recommend doing this 2-3 times a week, but NOT everyday. You have to give your skin time to balance back out. For every layer of skin removed you face produces a new layer. 

3. Toner/Tonic - This is a way to get even deeper into your pores to clean out all the caked in stuff like makeup, oil, etc. It is also a great pore minimizer and balances your pH..

4. Eye Creme - Women stop producing moisture under their eyes as early as puberty. No wonder we get dark circles so easily. You need to put moisture back in to keep the capillaries under your skin strong and from leaking or breaking. This is what causes the dark or bruised look under our eyes.

 

5. Moisturizer (preferably with SPF for during the day) - You can't just clean out your pores/skin and expect to go about your day. You need to protect it too. By cleaning out all the natural and unnatural oils in your skin your body starts to produce MORE to balance all the layers back out. Putting on moisturizer protects your skin from producing extra oil because those top layers are healthy and full. BTW - you need a sunscreen on your face everyday due to all the UVB and UVA you soak in, even just walking to your car. (I'll get more indepth into that another day).

All this should take you under 10 minutes, twice a day. Who can't take that much time to better themselves? My first "taste" of BeautiControl

The Instant Manicure was a great first product to get me hooked on. As in my last blog I talked about a great girlfriend who introduced me to this company. Well she did this by first taking sets of co-workers to the sink to try a free hand scrub and rate it. Hey it was free AND a nice break in the work day. Each one of us tried it and lots of Oohs and Aahs were heard. It left my hands feeling like I had just done a paraffin wax dip without the HOT wax feel. I loved it! Who wants to pay $20 and make an appointment for a basic manicure with hot wax when I can scrub my hands soft at leas twice a week in less than 5 minutes for a cost of less than $1 a scrub. Who could beat that? From there she talked to me about the skincare and the rest is history.
